Beauty Basics | My Everyday Makeup Picks

Over the years, I’ve become quite a beauty hoarder. And even though I probably have enough lip products to go a month without repeating, I always gravitate towards my tried-and-true favourites. For everyday, I don’t wear much makeup, but I do stick to the same products. I’ve broken them down to high-end and low-end below. Take a look and let me know which of my faves are also yours!

HIGH-END

I’ve got to admit, I do love Sephora… but sometimes my wallet doesn’t. Here are the items I reach for on the reg when I’m feeling a little fancy (or when my cheaper stuff runs out).

I love a Beauty Blender to apply my foundation, but if I’m being honest, they always tear on me, which is SO annoying considering these are not cheap. When it comes to actual foundation, I go between Luminous Silk and the Nars one below, which I both like!

I bought these YSL Volupte Shines this spring and I looooove them. They’re lightweight, moisturizing and come in really pretty shades. Plus, can we just take a second and appreciate that packaging? I’m also obsessed with my one-and-only Nars gloss from their Christopher Kane collaboration a little while ago. It’s the prettiest neon pink gloss that makes my lips look popsicle-stained. I’m going to be a little depressed when I run out, tbh.

I’m a (major) blush hoarder as well, but I keep reaching for the same two or three shades every morning.  I’m very into this mini Nars Orgasm that I got with my Beauty Insider points. I love how peachy-pink it is with just a hint of shimmer. So gorg for summer!

When it comes to mascara (a must-have item, in my opinion) I’ve repurchased Too Faced’s Better Than Sex at least a good five times now. I love how thick and full it makes my lashes look, so I have zero intention of switching anytime soon.

LOW-END (ISH)

Let’s be real –Sephora’s not always in the budge. Luckily there are some pretty awesome brands that don’t break the bank. Here’s what I reach for when I’m looking to save a little moolah.

While it’s super fun to go all out with luxe products, the drugstore has some bomb products. For my face, I kept my NARS tinted moisturizer in this category because I haven’t tried any drugstore face makeup and it’s a little more affordable than the Armani above.

For lips, I absolutely love ColourPop (and their price point!) as well as NYX. Such good options. I randomly purchased a Joe Fresh lipstick one day at the pharmacy and I kind love it, so that was a major win. And back when Target was in Canada (still salty that they left) I would get some Sonia Kashuk, and I always reach for the one lip product I have from them.

I got a mini Marc Jacobs liner from my Beauty Insider points, so it made the low-end category. And as for mascara, I really like this Revlon Ultra Volume BUT have recently switched over to L’Oreal’s Lash Paradise and I looooove it. A great BTS dupe, IMO.

And that’s it! I rotate between these products on the daily and I’m always repurchasing something or another from this batch of beauty picks. What I’m dying to try out? Glossier! They don’t ship to my province yet, but when they do… And also some Fenty Beauty. Putting a couple of things on my wish list already.
