Oscar over Princess Grace
Look at what Julep sent me! Ever since I found out about Julep, I’ve been literally dying to try them out. Who doesn’t want a monthly box of polish sent right to their door? The answer is nobody. Everyone wants boxes of polish. So when they reached out and offered to send me a box, I was all like, “Yes, please!” but inside I was like, “YESSSSS, PLEASSSEEE!”
I was even more excited when the actual box came and tore it open to reveal a ton of goodies, including six pretty polishes and a base coat, and cuticle remover, and quick dry drops, and some mini file looking things AND a pile wand. Oh and an eyeshadow, too. #spoiled So I started by ripping off all the packaging and then went on to swatching. I have to say, I’m super impressed with the quality of Julep polish. Is it mean to say I wasn’t expecting it? All of them, even the metallics, were such a breeze to apply and totally took me by surprise. The creams were super creamy and opaque and I kept that gold shade, Margot, on my hands for like, four days. Which is VERY long in my world. I was good to go in two coats with each of these colours.
As for the rest of the stuff, I never find quick dry drops actually work so I can’t say I loved these. The cuticle remover worked as any other would, but I did find it had a particularly funny smell so it’s not like I’ll be reaching for it on the regular. And I can’t comment on the eyeshadow because it’s the one makeup product I’m oblivious on, but I have to say it’s totally gorgeous in the pot. As for the Pile Wand, I was really excited to try it but none of the Julep bottles they sent me had compatible caps, which I though was kinda funny. It did come with a separate brush to attach to the wand, but I didn’t want to dirty it with polish and then have to clean it up after. Just from holding it, my first impression is that it’s a little strange and I don’t see how it’ll really facilitate applying polish, but I’ll have to test it out first to really give my opinion. That post will come soon!
All in all, I’m a fan. I love how they’re polish-focused, but also have a ton of other beauty products, too. Like, they have cute little makeup brushes, skin care and all that fun stuff. I even saw a chic little jewellery box! Plus each monthly box is customizable, which is basically the best thing ever, no?
So, have you been thinking about becoming a Julep Maven? If you’re down with getting a free box (um, yes, please) then clickity click this little guy and you’ll be on your way. Because who doesn’t love free, especially when we’re talking about polish?
