Because it’s Friday AND a long weekend, you’re all getting a treat in the form of Essie’s hot-off-the-press summer collection. I’ll admit, I wasn’t super enthusiastic about this collection when I received it, but seriously, it’s a whole other story on the nails. Take a look at my swatches (sans top coat!) and decide for yourself:
Urban Jungle was one I was so not expecting to like. I mean, summer does not scream off-white to me, so this one was not happening. That’s until it went on smooth like butter in its dreamily opaque way and looked like pure heaven sitting on my nail beds. I LOVE IT. It reminds me of the delicious milky foam atop a perfect latte. Okay, you guys get it. Just one more… like perfect marshmallows. Seriously though, it went on much better that I expected and is really opaque, plus the off-white colour is actually perf for summer, duh.
I wasn’t feeling Fierce, No Fear in the bottle, and I’m still not feeling it on the nail that much. I’m not one for brown polish, so this just didn’t do it for me. I’d see this more on my toes, but I definitely will not be reaching for this this summer. Colour aside, it has a great formula and went on perfectly in two coats.
Strut Your Stuff is currently on my toes, which made a cameo in my latest Instagram snap. It was FINALLY warm enough for me to stop hibernating and show some leg (though they’re rather pasty white and depressing at the moment) so I opted to wear some super-cute sandals and had to paint my piggies. As with the rest of these colours, the formula was superb and it went on nice and opaque, just like I love it.
This gree, Ruffles and Feathers, is suuuuuuper pretty. And also so opaque and wonderful and green. I love this collection, really.
Roarrrrange wins in the cute name department, that’s for sure. This punchy orange is all kinds of pretty with a formula to match. Loved it on.
Talk about a perfect pink! Haute in the Heat was literally so good in one coat, I was debating just leaving it but something feels very wrong about just one coat of polish, you feel me? This is two, just for good measure. And it’s perfect.
All in all, though this collection might not stun on the display, it really delivers on the nails. I liked every single one (except for the brown, bleh) and they were all absolutely amazing to apply. Opacity wise, I was totally expecting a hot mess but Essie’s stepping it up (and surprising me) with extra-opaque shades. Which is your fave colour?

The colours didn’t look like typical “summer colours” but they are still pretty. I like the green and the blue one the most although I will take a look at the off-white (I’m looking for an opaque one.) and the pink (pink in summer on my toes is the only colour I accept ;)).
