They’re Just Jealous
Gossip Mag with Matte Top Coat
Jail Bait No Flash
Have you heard of Montreal-based Trust Fund Beauty? I recently found out about them and knew I had to try some colours out a) because they’re from my hood and b) they’re concept is totally fun. They’re site says: “Unlike some of your relationships we are non-toxic and cruelty free. We are an “indie” brand with an edge and a purpose… to bring out the inner rich bitch in everyone no matter what your financial situation is.” Sounds good to me.
I received two full-sized bottles and three mini samples. Right off the bat, I commend them on their packaging. Though their bottles remind me way too much of American Apparel polishes, I love the outer box they’re placed in. So cute! But now to testing: As you can probably tell by the title of this post, I’m pretty impressed with Trust Fund Beauty. All three of the creme colours (the red was AMAZING) I received were ridiculously opaque and creamy. Seriously, they went on soooo smooth and I virtually didn’t need a second coat (though I did just because one feels weird). I’d have to say the formula was maybe a little more on the thick side but not in a bad way… the polish wasn’t gloppy or hard to apply. They just glided on the nail in the easiest application ever. Their brush isn’t bad, either, though it gave me a harder time with a nice smooth curve at the cuticle. Nothing I can’t deal with, though! Jail Bait was the only holographic polish I received and I LOVED it. It did take three coats to get the way it is in the photos but that’s because it was a thinner formula. Please just look at it with flash and tell me that’s not the most beautiful thing EVER. They have an entire holographic collection that I’m kinda coveting right now.
As for the price, these are a little more on the steep end. At $15 a pop, it is pretty expensive, especially if you want more than one colour. To me though, their formula was really great, so if there’s a colour you want that’s unique enough to justify the 15 bucks, then I’d say go for it. I’d also splurge on their holographics because I’m just so in love with the one I got, and a sneak peek on their Insta tells us they’ll be launching thermals soon and I kind of can’t wait.
Overall, Trust Fund’s repping Montreal pretty well. The polishes are solid. Have you tried any TFB polishes? If so, let me know what you think in the comments! x
P.S. I’m rocking a new nail shape AND growing them out again. I’ve watched way too much Mad Men where all the women have gorgeous long oval/almond nails and, well, I totally miss mine! We’ll see how this goes.
