I Want to Be An Island Girl

I can’t believe it’s been almost two months (!!!) since I’ve blogged! What is wrong with me? I’ve just been a little bit busy (and a lot a bit lazy) so I’ve taken a mini break, but I’m so ready to get back into the swing of things, starting with OPI’s upcoming spring/summer collection, Hawaii. While I wish I was actually in Hawaii, soaking up some much needed Vitamin D, it was nice and refreshing to see some bright and cheery colours, though anything vampy and dark is still close to my heart. There’s a couple of gems in here, so let’s get right to the good stuff. Oh, and to save myself from typing the same thing over and over, all of these swatches were two coats, no topcoat unless otherwise stated.

Aloha From OPI

Obsessed. This hot (hot) coral had me at hello. I mean, just look at it. Swoon.

Do You Take Lei Away

OPI Hawaii Do You Take Lei Away

Attention: We have found the perfect nude. This creamy beige is soooooo good. I feel like it’s very Kim K, too, you know?

Go With the Lava Flow

I feel very whatever about this shade. I mean, it’s nice and all, but I’m not fighting anyone over it. Meh.

Hello Hawaii Ya?

Yasssssss. I love this grey-purple mash up. It’s so me and so pretty.

Is Mai Tai Crooked?

OPI Hawaii Is Mai Tai Crooked?

This creamsicle orange is totally my jam, BUT it took an annoying three coats to look this smooth and creamsicle-like, so no bueno. I still completely love it, though.

Just Lanai-ing Around

OPI Hawaii Just Lanai-ing Around

Oh my heavens, I’m in love with this shade. For starters, it’s totally Marsala-like (AKA Pantone’s colour of the year, which I am totally digging) and just look at that shimmy shimmer. I thought I was going to hate this but it’s been on my nails for the past five days and I just don’t want to take it off. My fave.

This purple is real pretty, but that’s about all I have to say about it.

My Gecko Does Tricks

OPI Hawaii My Gecko Does Tricks

I wish I loved this shimmery green, but it’s leaning more towards Shrek/The Hulk in my books and I just don’t jive with that. So, while it is a nice colour, I don’t find it that nice on my nails.

Pineapples Have Peelings Too!

OPI Hawaii Pineapples Have Peelings Too!

No, no, no, no, nooooo. I do not like this golden-yellow-glitter mash up. Not one bit. I would have much preferred if this was a creme yellow shade… I mean, why couldn’t they have just made a pretty banana yellow or something? There’s just too much going on between the shimmer and the glitter, BUT I will say it was super easy to apply.

Suzi Shops & Island Hops

OPI Hawaii Suzi Shops & Island Hops

This is a really cute baby pink, but that being said, it’s like the nine other baby pinks I have in my polish stash. And it took three coats. If you really love it, I’d say go for it, otherwise… Next!

That’s Hula-rious!

OPI Hawaii That's Hula-rious!

love this creamy pastel mint, but again, it took three coats! I’ll deal with it though, since I’m a complete sucker for this shade; it’s just so gorgeous! And with tan skin in the summertime… GIMME.

This Colors Making Waves

How super gorgeous is this blue? Plus, peep those tiny gold flecks in there. I love how this isn’t just your standard blue with shimmer, it’s got a little something something extra in there. I’m a total fan.

Overall, I’m really liking this collection, though it’s definitely making me wish I was an island girl right about now. I am not meant for Canadian winters. What do you think of OPI’s Hawaii Collection? Will you be picking any of these shades up?

Comments

  1. Why am I liking so much the latest OPI’s collections? hahaha
“Do you take lei away” is indeed THE nude! And it totally reminds of Kim Kardashian, yeah. Love it.
    And “Hello Hawaii ya?”… <33333
Also loving your nails shape right now (I just had to say it… haha)
